Today marks a significant milestone in educational technology as we officially launch Collinear, an AI-powered STEM grading platform designed to transform how educators assess student work and provide feedback. Founded by three Yale students, David Chen, Jonathan Fan, and Kunwoo Min, Collinear emerges from our shared vision of making quality STEM education more accessible and equitable for all students.
Our Story
The idea for Collinear was born in the halls of Yale University, where we witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by both educators and students in STEM education. As teaching assistants for various STEM courses, we saw how the time-consuming nature of grading often prevented teachers from providing the detailed, personalized feedback that students need to truly understand and improve.
Our diverse backgrounds in computer science, education, and artificial intelligence led us to a simple yet powerful realization: by leveraging advanced AI technology, we could help teachers spend less time grading and more time doing what they do best—teaching and mentoring students.
The Technology
Collinear’s platform uses state-of-the-art AI to accurately read and assess handwritten mathematical work, analyze solution steps, and provide detailed feedback. Our technology not only saves teachers time but also ensures consistent, high-quality feedback for every student, every time.
Our Mission
At Collinear, we believe that every student deserves access to quality STEM education and meaningful feedback. Our mission is to level the education playing field by providing tools that make STEM assessment more efficient, accurate, and equitable. We’re committed to:
- Empowering teachers to focus on what matters most: teaching and mentoring
- Providing students with timely, detailed feedback that helps them learn and grow
- Making quality STEM education more accessible to all students
- Supporting schools in delivering more effective STEM programs
Looking Ahead
This launch is just the beginning. We’re continuously working to enhance our platform, expand our subject coverage, and develop new features based on feedback from our growing community of educators. Our roadmap includes advanced analytics tools, integration with more learning management systems, and expanded support for various STEM subjects.
Join Us
We invite educators, schools, and educational institutions to join us in transforming STEM education. Whether you’re a single teacher looking to save time on grading or a school district seeking to improve STEM assessment at scale, Collinear is here to help.
